Many wait years to find love, yet Jacob worked seven years for Rachel, and was even tricked by Laban into taking Leah, Rachel's sister. To me love isn't something you bargain for. Love isn't a fight but it sure is something worth fighting for. Jacob knew the love he found in Rachel's eyes since the first time he laid eyes on her, and he wasn't going to give that opportunity away even if it meant years of serving.
Jacob trusted in himself and the light he found in Rachel. The strength and faith and pure love for the lord kept him going. This story reminds me of young missionaries and their desire to serve a mission. Many leave girlfriends, family, and very close friends behind. They know how hard it's going to be, they also know the time they walk away from and the years they give to the lord.
Missionaries leave women they know they are going to marry, with the hopes they know the answers and have the faith to wait. Some wait, many others find someone knew, however Jacob knew what he was working towards, and true love never fails. Let's all hope we can experience a love like Jacob and Rachel.
